Inter-Library Loan Service

The Inter-Library Loan (ILL) service provides eligible clients with the option to request and borrow physical books not held by the CHS Library.

Level of Service

Eligibility

This service is available to:

*Students should obtain material not available through the CHS Library from their education provider's library. If the required material is not available through your education provider's library, a copy can be requested through the CHS Library Inter-Library Loan Service provided it relates to work being undertaken at CHS or ACTHD.

Requesting an item

Before submitting a request please check Library Search as the book may already be available in the Library's collections.

To submit a request

  1. Open the Inter-Library Loan form
  2. Complete the form with available information
  3. Read and agree to the copyright declaration
  4. Click Send Request.

To view a request

  1. Login to your Library Account
  2. Click Requests.

To cancel a request

  1. Login to your Library Account
  2. Click Requests
  3. Click Cancel next to relevant requests.

Supply

Items are usually supplied within 10 business days. Delivery times will vary depending on the availability of suppliers and requested items.

Once an item is available, you will be notified via email to your act.gov.au email address. At this time, personal email addresses cannot be added to Library accounts.

Items can be collected from the Library during business hours or delivered to your ACT Government work address.

Urgent requests

For urgent request, please add the date the item is required by in the 'Notes' field of the request form.

Loan periods and renewals

Loan periods are generally four weeks. Renewals are granted at the discretion of the lending library.
To request a loan renewal, contact the Library Service Desk.

Lost or damaged items

If an item is lost or damaged, please contact the Library Service Desk. You are responsible for any replacement or repair costs issued by the lending library.
