About UpToDate
UpToDate supports clinicians with reliable, evidence-based guidance for informed decision-making at the point of care. Covering 25 medical specialties, it provides expert-reviewed recommendations on symptom evaluation, diagnostics, and treatment. Contributions from over 7,400 clinicians ensure current, actionable insights to improve patient outcomes and streamline workflows.
How to Access
UpToDate is available online, and through the UpToDate mobile app.
Always use links on the Library's website to ensure seamless access to resources. When using a personal device, you may be prompted to log in with your work email address and password to verify your affiliation with CHS or HCSD.
Logging into Your UpToDate Account
Users registered for a personal UpToDate user account can log in using the following instructions:
- Visit UpToDate
- If prompted, enter your ACT Government login
- Click Sign in at the top right corner of the UpToDate page
- Under Username, enter your UpToDate username and click Continue
- Enter your UpToDate password, and click Sign in
- When finished, click Sign out at the top right corner.

Mobile App
The UpToDate mobile app provides healthcare professionals convenient access to current medical information and clinical guidelines, supporting informed decision-making at the point of care.
Registration is required to access the UpToDate mobile app:
- Visit UpToDate
- Click Register (top right)
- Complete registration using your @act.gov.au email address
- A confirmation email will be sent to your registered email address.
The UpToDate app can be installed on up to two devices per user account. See instructions for managing linked devices.
To install the app:
- Download the UpToDate app from the App Store or Google Play
- Open the app and enter your registered UpToDate username and password.
The UpToDate app can be accessed on a maximum of 2 devices per user account. To deactivate a device:
- Visit UpToDate
- Login using your ACT Government login if prompted
- Within UpToDate, click Sign in (top right)
- Enter your UpToDate username and password
- Select My Account (under account name)
- Click Manage Devices
- Click the De-activate (logout) link next to the relevant devices to remove a device from your account.
To keep your UpToDate account and mobile app active, verify your affiliation with CHS or ACTHD at least once every 90 days:
- Visit UpToDate
- Login using your ACT Government login if prompted
- Within UpToDate, click Sign in (top right)
- Enter your UpToDate username and password
- Logout when finished.
The UpToDate mobile app accesses online content while connected to the internet.
