Library Training
The Library provides a variety of training and development opportunities throughout the year, including:
- Database specific training tailored to your information needs
- Searching for evidence
- Creating topic alerts.
Check the Library’s training calendar for upcoming events.
Requesting Training
Library staff can work with CHS and HCSD teams to design and deliver customised training sessions, workshops and demonstrations. Sessions can be delivered in the Library, at your workplace, or online via Teams or Webex.
To arrange training for your department, complete the Training Request Form.
Key considerations for requesting customised training:
- Audience: Think about those to be trained (e.g. new graduates, JMOs, registrars, or staff developing information seeking skills for research purposes)
- Timing: Consider days, times, and or a series of training sessions that will best support attendance
- Duration: Most sessions are 1 hour and may contribute to CPD requirements
- Delivery: Choose in-person (at a CHS or HCSD location) or virtual (Teams/Webex)
- Venue: Consider group size, computer access, and room requirements
- Accessibility: Recording options may be available for staff unable to attend. Discuss with CHS Library staff when planning your training.
For details on available topics, view our Training Sessions Menu.
Online Tutorials
A series of online tutorials are available to provide a basic overview of how to conduct research and to learn about the Library’s point of care resources.
Multimedia Training
Conference Poster Training Sessions
Throughout the year Multimedia Services presents information sessions focusing on preparing content for the most effective poster presentation, whether for print or digital display. Sessions will be advertised on the CHS news hub and listed in the Library’s training calendar. Alternatively, please email Multimedia Services to make an appointment to discuss your upcoming presentation, or stop by the Multimedia service window in the Library.
