Library and Multimedia Service Charter
This Charter sets out the standard of service you can expect from us.
Library and Multimedia staff will:
- Treat you with courtesy and respect.
- Communicate clearly with you and set service expectations.
- Provide physical and online resources and spaces that support clinical research and evidence-based practice.
- Welcome your suggestions and comments.
- Address any feedback promptly.
Our services
The Canberra Health Services Library and Multimedia offers a range of services to assist you with your work. These include:
- Developing and maintaining a collection of resources to support clinical evidence-based practice including databases, journals and point of care tools.
- Providing training in the use of library databases and other resources.
- Providing support for literature searching and systematic reviews.
- Providing article and book request services to source resources relevant to your work.
- Design and print services for clinical materials including research posters and clinical tools.
Our targets
The Canberra Health Services Library and Multimedia aim to respond to your requests in a timely manner. You can expect a response to your request within the following timeframes:
- Respond to 90% of literature search requests within twenty to thirty business days.
- Respond to 90% of systematic review requests within one month.
- Provide 90% of requests for articles/book chapters within five business days (two days for urgent requests).
- Provide 90% of requests for inter-library loans within ten business days.
- Respond to 90% training requests within one week.
- Respond to 90% of access issue and general requests within one day.
- Respond to 90% of multimedia design requests within two weeks.
- Respond to feedback or suggestion forms within ten business days.
- Ensure 99.5% availability of library website and subscription resources.

- Follow the applicable licensing and copyright when accessing our resources.
- Asking for assistance if you need advice about our services or resources.
- Letting us know how we can improve our services.
Feedback and suggestions
We welcome your feedback, you can provide this in person at our Canberra Hospital and North Canberra Hospital library sites or online. We will use your feedback to improve our services.
