Important update - Don't Rush to Crush and MIMS Crush

Back to Library & Multimedia News

Don’t Rush to Crush (DRTC) and MIMS Crush provide guidance on the safe administration of oral medicines for patients with swallowing issues or enteral feeding requirements.

What's changing?

From 24th March 2026, the existing Don’t Rush to Crush module in eMIMS Elite will be replaced with a new module, MIMS Crush, from this date.

Don’t Rush to Crush will still be available in a new web app developed by Therapeutic Guidelines (eTG).

The Library has set up concurrent trials of both resources - Don’t Rush to Cush and MIMS Crush - from 24 March to 30 September 2026 and is keen to hear your feedback.

Important note

MIMS Crush is still in development and expected to be completed by October 2026. At the launch date MIMS Crush will contain some of the monographs. You will need to use the new Don’t Rush to Crush platform to access any monographs or information not available in MIMS Crush.

What new information is in MIMS Crush?

  • A quick reference view showing brands with available images
  • Access to drug-food or herbal medicine from the MIMS interaction module
  • Links to the MIMS Abbreviated Monograph.

How is MIMS Crush different to Don't Rush to Crush?

  • The monographs included in MIMS Crush will be fewer but will increase as the resource is developed
  • Does not provide instructions on how to give part doses
  • Does not include viscosity/thickness of some of the marketed oral liquid preparations
  • Does not include comparative information on medicine classes or general information on administering medicines in patients with enteral feeding tubes and swallowing difficulties
  • Only includes publicly available information.

How can I access MIMS Crush?

MIMS Crush will be available online from 24 March 2026 via eMIMS Elite.
